Work Work work and drama
So things have been very busy at work. I kind of like it though, the pace makes the day go by pretty fast and the week too. I am pretty excited about this new project I've been working on at the Sector. Myself and a few other ladies here are working on creating a (for lack of a better term) lactation facility. I am very enthusiastic about breastfeeding as it is the best option for both mother and baby so of course I am happy to see that we are creating a breastfeeding friendly environment for our working moms here. Its so important to me that other women have the option to continue breastfeeding/pumping after returning to work.

Another Busy Weekend
Friday:
I planned on spending Friday getting things (gifts, cupcakes, banner) ready for the babyshower I was attending on Saturday but thursday night I got a text from my Aunt Armina asking if I could please watch her kids. So Friday I hung out with Jill Aiden and my little one. We all fell asleep watching Disney Ocean. The picture in the movie was very cool but also very, very very relaxing. After my hubby came home from the gym he met us at my aunts and we were home 11 almost 12.
Saturday:
Well from Friday, when I got home til 5am Saturday I spent time working on a baby banner for my friend Racquel. I really dont know why it took me that long. I guess I move slow when I'm tired. That & its the first banner I made so I spent a lot of time going back and forth over cutting the circles 5 inches in diamer or 5.5 or maybe 5 and 3/8. I slept for a few hours then finished the reast of the banner and made cupcakes. Garrett helped me make the cupcakes too but he mostly sat around looking really annoyed about all the crafting and baking I was doing. Ohhh men. Racquels and her family are really into the whole surfer & beach scene so of course Tyler's crib and baby shower theme was also surfer and beach themed. I made these cupcakes (confetti cake and chocolate) with blue frosting and a little paper shark fin and also some that were frosted and then dipped into gram cracker crumbs. I put little paper umbrellas (the kind used in cocktails) and paper surfboards on those. I made the surfboards from the left over paper I had from the banner. I glued them to toothpicks then stuck them in the cupcakes. So I had the ide about using grahmcrackers for sand but before making them I googled beach cupcakes to see if I can find any other/better ideas and look who thought of it first. Good old Martha Stewart. Darn you, Martha. I love her (& her staff) though really. Mine were a little messier I think but they still turned out well (...I think). We were super crunched on time, the baby shower started at 4 and we were there at 6:30. Luckily it wasnt a traditional shower but more of a coed drunk fest. Well for the guys anyway.
Sunday:
Garrett's Birthday!!! I think this was probably his least favorite birthday yet. Yayy me : ( I asked him if he wanted to celebrate next weekend because we had so much going on this weekend but according to him you can't celebrate your birthday after it's already passed? I guess that's unheard of? He's silly, I love him. First thing in the morning I showered and the three of us got a bite at this cafe across the street. The menu items were strange. I think they were going for healthy but the items paired were strange to me. Black beans and eggs? So after cleanining up all the cupcake batter, gramhcracker crumbs, paper clippings and everythinggg else in the house we went to dinner with the Reyes', Andy, Maria and there little one Sydney. She's about 4 months. It was our first time eating there, from the outside Garrett thought it was a little dive bar but the restaraunt was actually pretty nice and pretty big. They had pool tables which was perfect. That was the one thing Garrett wanted to do for his birthday was drink brews and play pool. We didnt notice the pool tables until we were heading out of the restaraunt but we played one round anyway. Well he played one round, Andy & Maria already left and I held Rockwell. So yeah, it was kinda a half ass birthday but he was turning 24. I tried planning something all month with him but he didnt want to do our road trip up PCH he said all he wanted to do was go out to eat. Well, that's what we did. I think it seemed like more fun when he imagined it. Next time he'll learn to let me do the planning ; )

Is it August already?
I can't believe its been almost a month since I've posted. I swore I wouldnt put off my blog, I feel guilty. Sorry blog, I promise not to neglect you anymore. I've been really busy lately, but that's nothing new. I guess this is how life is when you're a grown up. It never looked that hard as a child.
So what's on my agenda lately?
So what's on my agenda lately?
- I was supposed to start classes 2 tuesdays ago. I filled out all my paperwork, my enrollment essay, got approved, talked to all the necessary people, my admissions adivsor scheduled me for class and I got the green light. The Tuesday that I was suppposed to start class, I got an unpleasant phone call from my less then friendly financial advisor. I really like the staff at Asfhord University but I've found this women one inch short of a b word. (I'm not the type to censor, I'm going to be quite honest, I never hold back a good curse word but for you, the reader, because I dont want to offend you, I will just call her a b word : D ) Before my pregancny I was taking classes at Ashford. FAFSA approved me for the pell grant and a check was issued to me and spent. That was some time ago, and apparently because I only took one class with them, instead of four I have to pay that money back (wa, wa, waa). Now I can't take class until that money is paid back. I was advised to fill out the FAFSA for this year and apply for the pell grant. If I was approved for the grant they would be able to apply that money to the money I owe, instead of me having to pay out of pocket. I've been working on filling out my FAFSA but for some reason whenever I get to the part of the application where I have to link to the IRS the IRS doesnt accept my information. Yet another draw back. I swear the man upstairs doesnt want me to get my education. This whole process has been very frustrating. I've been very anxious to start my classes. I go to school for free as long as I'm in the coast guard. That's two free years of school done, without having to use my GI Bill! This whole process has really been dragging.
- I finished my friends baby bumper. Well almost finished. I have yet to hand stitch the whole used to stuff the bumper. After that we will be all set.
- Garrett's birthday is in 3 days! Holy cow, 24. I know, I know, its still so young but I still can't believe it. It feels like yesterday, he we were in highschool and he was trying to make his move on me at track practice.
- I've been trying to transfer my bambino boulevard blog to the website but I'm at a stand still. I bought the domain name but now I'm stuck. If anyone knows how to do this, please please help me!! I tried fooling around with it a couple days ago but got no where.
- I'm still waitng for my security deposit from our old home. Man that 1600 would be really nice right now. I have to buy plane tickets back to Ohio for my cousins wedding in November and having 2 security deposits out there is leaving too much air in my pocket. Apparently the property management company my EX landlord recently hired needs a copy of my lease so they know how much my security deposit is. Apparently, the landlord, who happens to be a young eduacted doctor(!), doesnt know where his copy is and isnt sure how much he charged for the deposit. Apparently this is now my responsibility to find my copy....apparently.
- Racquels Baby shower is this weekend. We were going to take a trip up PCH for Garretts birthday but due to lack of funds and patience we've rescheduled that trip. Looks like we'll be going to the baby shower after all. I'm really not sure if I'm looking forward to this or not. Whenever I have a lot on my plate it I feel antisocial. I'm sure this break from myself will be a good one though, I really need to get away from myself and get out of my own head. I think I've had too much Me Time lately.
- Rockwell is cuter than ever. Just when I think he couldnt be more adorable but he keeps proving me wrong. He turned 6 months a couple days ago!!! Oh man, I can't believe it! We took his picky sticky 6 month pictures a few days ago. I didnt take them at month 5 though because I couldt find the darn things : ( I'm really sad about that but its alright. I think I'll just photoshop a picture of the sticker on a picture of him at 5 months.
- I havent talked to my mom since I came back from Ohio. We had an arguement my last day there about her not spending time with us. I tried calling her a few times and left voicemails but she never returned the call. My dad and I also got into an arguement recently. Well it was sorta an arguement. He just sat there and yelled at me about my sister and taking her phone away and taking her car away and went on ranting. Then he yelled at me for asking him about it and putting him in a bad mood then hung up on me. I called him back only to get his voicemail and while leaving a voicemail, my fathers genes really came out and my voicemail to him became a yelling fit about his fathering. Things at work have been tense, I really dont even feel like opening that can of worms but all I can say is I really wish my parents were talking to me right now. You never stop needing your parents, even when you grow up, even when you marry the most loving man, even when you have many friends, and even when you feel so wronged by them. You always need them because they are always a part of you.

DOT COM
I'm very excited to announce Bambino Boulevard is now a .com!
This is very exciting. Good news there, the not so good news, we are still on the prowl for a home...
Hopefully things will turn up on that end this weekend.

On the hunt
I keep looking at this blog page thinking, "Yeah, I'm going to start blogging soon, yep, definitely some time soon". Well today is sometime soon. Boy oh boy, I really didnt realize how right my parents were when they were telling me being a grown up isnt going to be easy. Man, if only it was as simple as I thought. Go to work, get money, pay money, go to sleep, then do it all over again. Simple!...not. For the past three weeks my Garrett and I have been looking for a place to rent. We found three great homes for rent and decided to give our current landlord our thirty days notice instead of signing a new lease. I was very bad about turning in our apartment applications on time and two of the houses got leased to someone else. The man leasing the last house let us know about another unit he was leasing next door. The current tenant showed it to us and despite its run down condition and ugly green carpet I saw the potential it had. My husband and I were both very exited. Him because the house had a yard, and that meant no more taking our dog Ruthy downstairs and outside from the fifth floor 5 times a day. Me because that meant a big DIY house project. The landlord agreed to lower our rent if we fixed it up ourselves & everything seemed to be falling into place.
One day later the landlord sent us a text message with our new "discounted" rent price. When the tenant showed us the place she told us she was paying 1500 and our new "discounted" rent was 1499. ? ? ? I could only hope this was a joke. Unfortunently it wasn't. After talking...or texting rather the landlord trying to get him to see why 1500 was too much he told me he'd put some thought into the price we were offering to pay, 1400. The landlord, Daniel, lead us on to believe that he was going to rent to us. He even went as far as asking us to look at the place again only to tell right after that he was signing a lease with another tenant tomorrow. It was such a disappointment and a huge waste of our time. I try to let things like that go and hope that his intentions were well, or that karma will get him back so I don't have to =D.
Anyway, today is July 7th, our lease ends July 15th and its about 4:19 right now. So I have a little over 7 days to find a place. But really I have less than 3-4 days, unless someone is crazy good enough to sign our lease, and let us move in all in that same day.
