Another Busy Weekend

Friday:

I planned on spending Friday getting things (gifts, cupcakes, banner) ready for the babyshower I was attending on Saturday but thursday night I got a text from my Aunt Armina asking if I could please watch her kids. So Friday I hung out with Jill Aiden and my little one. We all fell asleep watching Disney Ocean. The picture in the movie was very cool but also very, very very relaxing. After my hubby came home from the gym he met us at my aunts and we were home 11 almost 12.

Saturday:

Well from Friday, when I got home til 5am Saturday I spent time working on a baby banner for my friend Racquel. I really dont know why it took me that long. I guess I move slow when I'm tired. That & its the first banner I made so I spent a lot of time going back and forth over cutting the circles 5 inches in diamer or 5.5 or maybe 5 and 3/8.  I slept for a few hours then finished the reast of the banner and made cupcakes. Garrett helped me make the cupcakes too but he mostly sat around looking really annoyed about all the crafting and baking I was doing. Ohhh men. Racquels and her family are really into the whole surfer & beach scene so of course Tyler's crib and baby shower theme was also surfer and beach themed. I made these cupcakes (confetti cake and chocolate) with blue frosting and a little paper shark fin and also some that were frosted and then dipped into gram cracker crumbs. I put little paper umbrellas (the kind used in cocktails) and paper surfboards on those. I made the surfboards from the left over paper I had from the banner. I glued them to toothpicks then stuck them in the cupcakes. So I had the ide about using grahmcrackers for sand but before making them I googled beach cupcakes to see if I can find any other/better ideas and look who thought of it first. Good old Martha Stewart. Darn you, Martha. I love her (& her staff) though really. Mine were a little messier I think but they still turned out well (...I think). We were super crunched on time, the baby shower started at 4 and we were there at 6:30. Luckily it wasnt a traditional shower but more of a coed drunk fest. Well for the guys anyway.

Sunday:

Garrett's Birthday!!! I think this was probably his least favorite birthday yet. Yayy me : ( I asked him if he wanted to celebrate next weekend because we had so much going on this weekend but according to him you can't celebrate your birthday after it's already passed? I guess that's unheard of? He's silly, I love him. First thing in the morning I showered and the three of us got a bite at this cafe across the street. The menu items were strange. I think they were going for healthy but the items paired were strange to me. Black beans and eggs? So after cleanining up all the cupcake batter, gramhcracker crumbs, paper clippings and everythinggg else in the house we went to dinner with the Reyes', Andy, Maria and there little one Sydney. She's about 4 months. It was our first time eating there, from the outside Garrett thought it was a little dive bar but the restaraunt was actually pretty nice and pretty big. They had pool tables which was perfect. That was the one thing Garrett wanted to do for his birthday was drink brews and play pool. We didnt notice the pool tables until we were heading out of the restaraunt but we played one round anyway. Well he played one round, Andy & Maria already left and I held Rockwell. So yeah, it was kinda a half ass birthday but he was turning 24. I tried planning something all month with him but he didnt want to do our road trip up PCH he said all he wanted to do was go out to eat. Well, that's what we did. I think it seemed like more fun when he imagined it. Next time he'll learn to let me do the planning ; )
