I keep looking at this blog page thinking, "Yeah, I'm going to start blogging soon, yep, definitely some time soon". Well today is sometime soon. Boy oh boy, I really didnt realize how right my parents were when they were telling me being a grown up isnt going to be easy. Man, if only it was as simple as I thought. Go to work, get money, pay money, go to sleep, then do it all over again. Simple!...not. For the past three weeks my Garrett and I have been looking for a place to rent. We found three great homes for rent and decided to give our current landlord our thirty days notice instead of signing a new lease. I was very bad about turning in our apartment applications on time and two of the houses got leased to someone else. The man leasing the last house let us know about another unit he was leasing next door. The current tenant showed it to us and despite its run down condition and ugly green carpet I saw the potential it had. My husband and I were both very exited. Him because the house had a yard, and that meant no more taking our dog Ruthy downstairs and outside from the fifth floor 5 times a day. Me because that meant a big DIY house project. The landlord agreed to lower our rent if we fixed it up ourselves & everything seemed to be falling into place.
One day later the landlord sent us a text message with our new "discounted" rent price. When the tenant showed us the place she told us she was paying 1500 and our new "discounted" rent was 1499. ? ? ? I could only hope this was a joke. Unfortunently it wasn't. After talking...or texting rather the landlord trying to get him to see why 1500 was too much he told me he'd put some thought into the price we were offering to pay, 1400. The landlord, Daniel, lead us on to believe that he was going to rent to us. He even went as far as asking us to look at the place again only to tell right after that he was signing a lease with another tenant tomorrow. It was such a disappointment and a huge waste of our time. I try to let things like that go and hope that his intentions were well, or that karma will get him back so I don't have to =D.
Anyway, today is July 7th, our lease ends July 15th and its about 4:19 right now. So I have a little over 7 days to find a place. But really I have less than 3-4 days, unless someone is crazy good enough to sign our lease, and let us move in all in that same day.
